I am a licensed clinical psychologist specializing the in the treatment of adolescents and teenagers. I have over 10 years of experience of working with the adolescent population. My education focused on child development which gave me the basis to work with this population.
Adolescence is a tough stage of life by nature as there are so many demands placed on a teenager. Teens are expected to juggle school, extra-curricular activities and a social life, all while experiencing changes to their bodies, minds and hormone levels. In addition to all of these pressures, this time period in life is when teenagers are growing and struggling to become their own person. They are seeking independence and working on finding their own sense of self. While counseling may be helpful for anyone at this stage of life, it is especially necessary when there is mental health issue in the background.
My work has focused on helping teenagers cope with life while dealing with a mental illness. My areas of expertise include:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Eating Disorders
- Grief
- Adjustment Issues
- Stress
While treating teenagers, my goal is to be a warm and respectful listener so we can develop a strong relationship, which is essential for our work together. The creation of this kind of environment will allow you to feel safe to share your feelings and discover the issues that we need to address together.
In addition to providing therapy, I work with schools to conduct psycho-educational evaluations and assessments to children, adolescents and young adults.
The areas I primarily serve as an adolescence psychologist include Miami Beach, Aventura, Bal Harbor, Surfside, Bay Harbor, and Sunny Isles Beach. However, on occasion, I have worked with clients outside those areas and am always happy to assist when possible. Most visits occur at my office, however I also support the option for online therapy.
